Adajan sends us more school project enquiries than any other part of Surat, which is mostly a function of density — it is one of the city's largest residential areas, with a heavy concentration of CBSE and GSEB schools within a couple of kilometres of Rander Road.
The pattern here is seasonal and predictable. Science exhibition requests cluster from late November through January, and Class 10 and 12 students tend to come with a topic already assigned rather than looking for suggestions. That changes the conversation: the question is usually whether a given topic is buildable in the days remaining, not what to build.
Working models dominate. Water level indicators, automatic street lights and rainwater harvesting cross-sections come up repeatedly, partly because they are on the standard topic lists and partly because they demonstrate well on a crowded exhibition table.
From the engineering side, students commuting to colleges on the far side of the river ask most often for Arduino and IoT final-year work — irrigation, monitoring and home automation projects that can be carried on a two-wheeler without a car.
Adajan's grid of internal society roads makes for straightforward pick-up, but exhibition-sized models are worth planning around. Anything on a base wider than about two feet needs a car or an auto rather than a scooter, and it is better to know that a day before than on the morning of the exhibition.
Popular here
A starting point rather than a limit — every one of these can be adapted to your own topic.
Overhead tank level indication with staged LEDs, an audible full alarm and optional automatic pump cut-off.
Street lights that switch on at dusk and off at dawn using light sensing, with an optional motion-based dimming stage.
A cross-section model showing rooftop collection, first-flush diversion, filtration and groundwater recharge.
Soil moisture sensing that switches a pump automatically and reports field conditions to a phone dashboard.
Questions
Small working models travel fine on a two-wheeler. Exhibition boards over about two feet wide need a car or an auto — tell us the size constraint before we start and we will build to fit.
Exhibition season around December and January is the busiest period. Two weeks ahead is comfortable; a working model needs at least five to eight days regardless.
